Cribbage competion for charity 1978

By Jo Blake

Officers have frequently been involved in charity events to raise money for worthwhile causes. PC David Rowland decided to arrange a 25 hour non-stop cribbage competetion and six officers, five male and one female, took part in the event at the Springfield Arms in Springfield Road. The event started at 7pm and finished at 8pm the following evening and raised £1300. Dame Vera Lynn presented a final cheque to the chairman of the Brighton Lifeboat. The photograph in the sea was a publicity shot!
