Sergeant Mockford

Sergeant Mockford cycles through Lewes in 1924. Members of the East Sussex Constabulary were first issued with County bicycles in the 1880s for “rapid pursuit of, and following up of, suspected persons”. However, officers weighing over 14 stone were forbidden to ride them.
