Ding Dong the Cells are Gonna Chime

And they certainly did on Sunday 17 May 2015, when Sandra and Derek became the first couple ever to tie the knot in the historic police cells beneath Brighton Town Hall.

The ceremony took place in Brighton’s newest wedding venue, the Old Police Cells Museum.

Family and friends joined them below ground where many a rogue and villain has been held before mounting the long flights of stairs up to the the magistrates court or climbing into the wagon for the uncomfortable ride to Lewes Crown Court and the ‘long drop’.

They married amongst the museum’s exhibits and memorabilia that celebrate over 180 years of local police history.

Everyone at the museum extends congratulations to Sandra and Derek and wishes them many happy years together. We would also like to thank all those who made the lovely historic occasion possible, especially the registry office staff, but most importantly Sandra and Derek and all their friends and relations.
